3 Ways to Upcycle a T-Shirt

With the heavy, traumatic, and tumultous events of recent months in our world, it is more imporant now than ever to use your power to CREATE. Whether it is creating a presentation for work, content for a new class, art project, dance, or a new recipe, creating lowers stress, increases resilience, and can help regain a sense of power. This sense of power, even if for those few moments in a project, give you momentum to create the life and world you want to live in, bit-by-bit. To help with this encouragement, I've started a series of videos called #makeitmonday.

I picked the first project to help with what you have spent some time in the 2020 quarantine doing, cleaning out your closet. Perhaps you ended up with a stack of old t-shirts that are sentimental to you, but you hardly wear. Want to keep your T-shirts, but change them up? Join me as I show you how to customize and upcycle them. I’ve demonstrated there ways to spice them up in the videos below.

T-Shirt Upcycling Part 1 - Scoop Neck Shoulder Shirt

New life from old things, or upcyclng, is an idea I've embraced for awhile and I love seeing the transformation. Many of you know I previously created and owned a baby clothing line called Obababy. In it, I used old neckties to create new bow ties, neckties, pockets, and flower embellishments on infant and toddler clothing. I suppose upcycling captures my intrigue with intersection in general. In this case, the intersection of vintage materials with new ones, young and old, one era with another, and long-time dreams into new life. Anyway, those are thoughts to be continued another day. Next, a second a style of T-shirt upcycling - a flattering tulip-back workout out tank top.

T-Shirt Upcycling Part 2 - Tulip Back Workout Tank

I'm wrapping up the three part T-shirt upcycling with a racerback tank top. Check it out below!
