25 Things About Me

Let’s meet!

In case we haven’t spent time together yet, today I’m sharing 25 things about me to give an idea of who I am. I’ll let you decide if you’d consider these “cool” things ;) They are things nonetheless! I’d love it if you let me know if we have anything in common or if they spark a memory/thought for you!

25 Things About Me

1. I enjoy fall so much! Although I am happy living where I can play sand volleyball year-round, I miss experiencing a real autumn season with the beautiful changing leaves. I visit to soak it in when I can, like last fall in the Poconos mountains (pictured) 🍂

2. Teaching swimming lessons was my first job at 16 years old and I have continued to teach swimming in some form ever since!

3. When I was a kid I would sew clothes for my dolls and make rooms and furniture for them out of cardboard boxes. I also loved cutting their hair since I toggled between wanting to be a fashion designer and a hairdresser when I grew up.

4. I started off college studying graphic design (since “crafts” wasn’t an option) and ended up with a Bachelor's in Social Work and a MA in Youth and Family Ministry.

5. I worked full-time in Nonprofit organizations for 18 years, mostly youth-serving organizations. My work in the first half was direct service, then moved into Volunteer program management. To my nonprofit sojourners out there, oh the stories... 😆

6. I got to fulfill one of my childhood dreams (see #3) by creating and operating a handmade baby clothing line for 9 years called Obababy. Even though the business didn’t make much money, the stress relief I experienced while sewing them was priceless.✨

7. Despite not being a hairdresser (yet) for my other childhood dream, I have gotten to be a hair model a few times, which was so fun!

8. My favorite color is green. 💚

9. I have been tattooed three times. Soon to be four times, now that I found an artist I really like and a career where HR doesn't make me cover them!

10. I love experiencing and celebrating the diversity of human beings.

11. Just like me, my dwellings have also been creative over the years. A walk-in closet, 5 summers worth of summer camp cabins, a fire station - turned church daycare- turned nonprofit housing "loft" with cubicle walls, a friend's living room, and a spare backroom to name a few.

12. I love to move my body, especially swimming, sand volleyball, and dancing and I have a hard time relaxing.

13. I'm a sucker for a dance movie. Same storyline, different people, count me all the way innnnnnn! I mean, a story where the bully loses gets me every time.

14. I have a desire to support the well-being of service providers and helping professionals. I reject the idea that the best way to fulfill missions to care for the clients/patients is at the expense of the employees. The people behind our favorite causes have been overlooked far too long!

15. As far as I’m aware, I still hold the sit ‘n reach record at my high school. (You know, the box with the ruler seeing how far you can stretch past your toes?) Thanks for the arm length, mom!

16. I like coffee so much it may be an addiction.

17. I’m an Aunt to five little ones and a little sister to two older brothers and a sister-in-law.

18. Public speaking used to terrify me and I remember my legs shaking in high school speech class. However, over the years I have come to love it! So much so that I have added speaking as an offering in my company! 15-year-old Sarah would not believe this 😆

One of my cameos as a hair model! I’m in the center with a leopard jacket.

19. I believe in science and God. Even though I most resonate with the expression of God as Father, Jesus, & Holy Spirit, I embrace the full spectrum of ways God reveals his/her/their/its identity and divinity.

20. I‘m a Virgo, Enneagram 1 with a 9 wing, Manifesting Generator in Human Design, and ISFP last I checked.

21. I am outgoing and an introvert. I love being around people and need time alone to recharge.

22. I’m learning to become a better cook. It is a process since although I’m patient in a lot of things, my patience hasn’t shown up yet when cooking. I try to imagine I’m painting or something where I can slow down and enjoy the process, which helps, but then I get frustrated that the art is gone afterward! Help!

23. I love helping people connect new concepts, and celebrating discoveries with them as they uncover their passions and gain new skills.

24. I have an adorable, spunky, passionate dog named Colby Jack.

25. Clearly, I also am a big fan of cheese.
